Before Twenty Five

I am always adding things to my bucket list. Really - it's a rarity if I go a full week without adding a new experience I somehow learned about and decided I need to do before I die. Browsing around the internet I've been coming across a ton of "before 25" or "before 30" lists, lists I've never really thought of composing until now.  It wasn't until this morning when I began thinking about short term goals that I realized the benefits of having a defined list of things I want to accomplish relatively soon. When you think you have your whole life to do something it's easy to put it off, and I can think of few things worse than waking up one morning and realizing that years of wonderful opportunities had passed you by.

Things I'd like to accomplish before my twenty fifth birthday:

- Receive a bachelors degree in journalism and new media
- Backpack through South America
- Volunteer in a third world country
- Go bungee jumping
- Go skydiving
- Become 100% fluent in German
- Become conversational in Spanish
- Run a Marathon
- Learn how to surf
- Learn how to play the piano
- Climb a mountain
- Purchase a starter home

I know most people have a list of twenty five things, but I honestly couldn't think of twenty five things I really wanted to do by the time I'm a quarter century old. Instead I've listed only the pretty big things.  We'll see what the next five years bring.
