To Love as Much as You Breathe.

Hey friends! You're in for a real treat today. One of my favorite bloggers in the whole wide blogosphere, Alivia from Brunch in April, is here today writing about love and what it means. It's a gorgeously written post and I am so excited to share it with you. Please read on and let your heart be filled with warmth. Got it? Good.

First things first-- I am so glad Daryl + I "met." She is as sweet as can be and I'm honored to be posting here today. Hello, new friends!

Let's get one thing straight--I am a perpetual 'lover.' I can't count how many times I've said "I love _________" in the past five minutes (seriously).
To be honest, though, this is a fairly recent characteristic of mine. I held back these words for a long time. "People use the word 'love' too often," I'd pessimistically announce. "It defuses the meaning."

I love the foam at the top of a chai tea latte.

And I'm here to tell you: that is BS. How utterly ridiculous of me to think so! Love cannot be diffused by spreading it around. That's not how love works. I find it one of the craziest realizations of my adult life that the more love you give, the more love you keep. How does that math work, may I ask? How can giving more mean getting more and then, in turn, giving even more than that, and so on and so forth forever?

I'm going to call it The Bounce-Back.

I love noticing buds on flower stems, full of blooming potential.

Here's where I came up with this bounce back theory. Early on in my slow-to-discover-that-I-had-depression journey, I would have to focus on extremely simplistic things to keep my mind from racing between horribly anxious thoughts.
I like this shade of yellow.
The handle of this butter knife feels nice in my palm.
The sun coming through those leaves is making a pretty pattern on the ground.
After years of dealing/struggling through that, I'm finally on solid ground and doing well (that's not why I'm here, but by all means, if you want to talk more about it, send me a message). What I've since noticed that taking notice of thoughts, really being aware of where your mind is going, can be wonderful. Because the universe bounces it back to you. Being aware of how the yellow shade makes you happy makes you happy. Happiness squared, no?

I love the way teacups and saucers clink.

I had a conversation with a few of my best friends this weekend while walking across the Brooklyn Bridge.
"I think you should love as much as you can. Love that sidewalk. Love this train ticket. --Oh, whoops, excuse me-- Er, love me crashing into that stranger. Love as much as you can and the universe will throw it right back at you." I was rambling, but by George, I think I've got something.
Love simple things. And take pleasure in the happiness this love bounces back
.
I love the small flame of a tea light.

I don't know when it finally clicked; to love as much as I breathe. To be conscious of this solid, warm feeling in my heart.
Regardless, I'm sure glad it did.

I love Alivia for posting about this today. She has written some truly amazing things on her blog that leave me staring at the computer screen in shock, thinking to myself "Why didn't I think of that? So beautiful."  I hope you all took the time to read and appreciate this as much as I do!

This is beautiful and a great reminder. Sometimes I can't hold my love in and have to express it often and I used to think that people would think it had lost it's meaning from me but it just can't. And this reminds me of something I hear quite often being that whatever you give, you get back ten fold.
