Summer Travel Plans

In case you haven't noticed, it's May! Are you excited for warm weather and adventures? I sure am! I figured now was as good a time as any to share with you our travel plans for the summer. This very well may be our last summer in Europe so we're definitely trying to make the most out of it! With everything so close by, it doesn't make any sense to just stay put.

So without further adieu, where we're going in the Summer of 2012:

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 //

Our "August" is still quite undecided.

Now, here's the important part: Have you been to any of these places? If so, speak now! What were your favorite activities, you favorite restaurants, your favorite experiences in general?? Sharing is caring, my friends so please do!

I'd also like to hear about what YOU'VE got planned for the summer! From an epic international adventure to a fabulous relaxing staycation to a camping trip amongst beautiful mother nature...please spill! I live for this stuff and would love to talk travel with you.

Leave a comment, let's get some discussion going!

I have an August idea for ya! Go to the craziest food fight ever in Bunol, Spain! TOMATINA!!!! Toss around tomatoes with thousands of other thrill-seekers. One of the best holidays we've ever had!!!! :) Tomatina is the last Wednesday in August every year...and Bunol is about 45 minutes from Valencia ;)

Fun summer plans! I spent last summer in Budapest and it is one of my most favorite cities--you really can't go wrong with visiting! My husband just went to Malta last month and it is an awesome place! He loved going to the smaller island for a boat ride around the cliffs and deep water. Here's a link to a post about Malta (if you're interested):) http://peteandkimmybird.wordpress.com/2012/04/14/pete-went-to-malta-part-two/

Oh, and August is a great time to go to Tallinn, Estonia--great weather and beautiful beaches!

Daryl,
I went to Barcelona just last month for our Easter break! It was INCREDIBLE!!! I am still working on a blog post for that trip, so I will share that with you once I'm done... however, a few things to note: definitely check out the Boqueria Market right off of Las Ramblas! Also, the Travel Bar has free walking tours and a 19E per person Paella night... you get free sangria, paella and even get to mix your own sangria! It's well worth it (especially if you like seafood... which I don't really). Obvi, Park Guell is a must-see... and just wondering around through the old gothic area is great. Let me know if you have any questions!!!

I've been to all of those places except Malta.

How much time do you have in each? I really loved Vienna and Budapest. Barcelona will be much nicer in the summer, spend a whole day in park Guell, it's amazing. Seriously, take a picnic and find somewhere nice to enjoy it.

Of course in Vienna you must make some time for the museums, they're incredible and you're spoiled because you know german, too.

Budapest is fun, but honestly I did a lot of drinking there, so I'll skip those details! Do a river cruise, it wasn't expensive and was really gorgeous cruising down the river at night.

I'm heading down to the South of NZ tomorrow, Sydney, Hong Kong, London, Portugal, I think. Then moving to Spain, Life is GOOD.

Sorry we never managed to catch up in Los Angeles, everything went crazy after my camera was stolen :( x

Oh my gosh I don't think I could be any more jealous of you right now! It's probably for the best that you didn't share August yet ;) No but seriously you're so lucky girlie! Looks like an amazing summer for sure. I know we've already started planning our next European trip. We're headed to Brighton for a wedding next year and we're trying to see what else we can squeeze in! This summer though will be camping, cottaging and patio hopping :)

WOW!! That's going to be such a wicked adventure! I'm so happy for you! When I came to France, I thought I'd be up and travelling all over Europe during the year but I'm surprised to how much I've stayed put only traveling around France. I will spend the entire month of August in Provence and along the Southern French coast which will be fabulous as always but I realize that this isn't my last full year in France and I can make it to those places within the next few years, this year I'll spend my time exploring this country.

I absolutely love Barcelona, my parents have a holiday in one of the coastal towns north of Barcelona, and each time I am there, we often take the train to Barcelona. One of my favourite places is Barceloneta, the port area. Yes, it is a shopping mall, but I just love lounging there and enjoy the sun. Sagrada Familia is a must visit, as are all of Gaudi's buildings. another must visit is the Palau de la Musica, but you have to book the tickets well in advance, as you have to reserve your spot (we book ours a week in advance). When in Malta, try to have a little walk around Valetta, it is old and charming.

I always love Paris in August (esp. second half) as most of the Parisians will then have fled the city. There are summer markets in the tuileries, days can be spent reading and lounging in the Parc de Buttes Chaumont, and there are some great concerts in the gardens of the Palais de Versailles.

Holy crap woman! What an amazing summer you have planned! We are heading over to Scotland, England, France, Switzerland and Italy this summer, but your locations may take the cake! Have an AMAZING time! (as if you couldn't!)

Has anyone told you how lucky you are to be able to do this? So lucky. As for us, we're headed to San Diego this month....and that's it for the rest of the summer. We might go camping nearby, but that'll be pretty much it. I have to work all summer long.

I am SO jealous of you! So far, I'm only going to Disney World!

Wow. I'm jealous. I went to Malta in 2008 in March. It was FREEZING. The food is AMAZING. the water is beautiful! If you have time, opt for the trip to Sicily, so worth it!

I Love Barcelona, but haven't had the time to venture past the touristy spots.

And Vienna is beyond wonderful.

Gosh I'm jealous!

I am in Prague for the summer as a nanny and want to plan a trip to explore germany maybe for like a week or so. What do you think are the must see cities in Germany??

Malta is high on my travel list, but Budapest...omg, so beautiful. I went there for 2 days during my grad trip through Europe and it is full of romance and culture. We did a river night tour and the sunset was absolutely breath taking. I would definitely recommend doing that. Not sure on pricing since ours was in the package with EF Tours, but we had dinner and drinks on board while the river guide showed us the sites. Their parliament building is unreal. Oh1 I'm so excited for you [can you tell:)] you'll go on a photo frenzy!
