I Bought a Bike for Ten Euros!

There is a flea market in Frankfurt every Saturday from 9 AM – 2 PM, just along the south side of the Main river. I am oh so ashamed of myself for having lived in Frankfurt over six months and only just getting around to going now. For a girl who LOVES to thrift, you’d think I’d be out spending money there each and every weekend.

We decided it might be a good idea if I got a bike. It takes me thirty minutes to get to my yoga studio via public transport and it’s only 4 kilometers away from my house. For those of you not completely used to the metric system, 4 kilometers is a little less than 2.5 miles. Considering the amount of money we’re paying for my monthly train pass, a bike definitely seemed to be the more frugal and efficient option. Plus, I get a little more exercise worked into my daily routine! This bike definitely needs some TLC (more on that later) but you really can’t beat that price! 10 euros!

And of course it wouldn’t be a proper Saturday in Germany if one didn’t enjoy some yummy hazelnut ice cream and Bratwurst.
Mmm…Bratwurst.

That's such a good buy! Last summer I was so proud of myself for picking up a robin's egg blue '50's bike at a garage sale back here in Illinois.. and it had only had one owner, an 85 year old woman lol.. I bet flea markets over in Europe are on a whole new level compared to markets stateside.. with items that make our "antiques" look brand new. How lucky you are to be living in Germany. I want more than anything to go back with my husband. It was so much fun there. Also.. a little jealous of your bratwurst
Have a great one,
Janell

Can you believe that I was in Germany this weekend and didn't eat Bratwurst? I mean, I might as well have been living in a cave! I actually almost ate one when I was in Koblenz, but then there was a bakery full of yummy goodies across the street... Anywhoo, Hooray for getting a bike! Mine comes from a fleamarket too and I totally LOVE it. I may have only paid €20 for it, but I wouldn't sell it for a million! xo Nikki

I love Bratwurst! My grandma knows how to serve it best (she's French).

And great find on that bike!

10 euros!? Wow, that is a fantastic deal - you would have been crazy not to go for it even if it does need a little TLC :)

The ice cream look delicious!

Biking beats public transit any day.

Actually, not on days below 5 C, but any other day.
