The World’s Best Bakery…No, Really.

Montpellier Bakery
You guys know all about my passionate love affair with food. Food is amazing. It is pretty much the best thing ever. Given these feelings I have about food, I’ve been planning to write a big “Where to eat in Montpellier” post so that you will all know where to get your sustenance once you come here too…and you all WILL come here, because it’s my new favorite place in the world and you need it in your lives.

Don’t worry, this foodie-post will be showing itself around these parts shortly, but I’ve decided one establishment in particular deserved it’s own completely separate post. SO in love with this place.

While walking aimlessly through the artsy, walking-and-biking-only St. Anne district of Montpellier, Steven and I stumbled upon the most adorable bakery entitled Le Vieux Four Sainte Anne.  The smell of bread still being made lured us inside, where we discovered an amazing selection of breads, pastries, quiches, and even small pizzas. The woman who served us was loud and beautiful, telling us the French words for everything we ordered and making us repeat them back to her. We ordered a giant baguette, two chocolate croissants, a pizza, and a quiche…more than enough to eat for us, and only paid seven euros.

Delicious baked goods in hand, Steven and I walked five minutes west to the large park in between the city’s gorgeous aqueduct and even-more gorgeous Arc de Triumph, sharing our spoils on a stone wall and enjoying the warm weather.

We’ll be visiting this place again before we leave tomorrow afternoon.
Did I mention I LOVE the South of France?
