I am so excited for this installment of Fresh Faced Friday! Today you will be graced by the fabulous presence of none other than Gentri Lee, one of my all time
girl crushes favorite bloggers. She’ll be sharing with you a daytime approach to the timeless Hollywood glamour we all love so much. Perfect timing, right? This weekend you can rock a look that transitions perfectly from your daytime shopping trip to your night on the town. So what are we waiting for??
Hello Miss Daryl's lovely lovely readers! My name is Gentri and I blog over at Gentri Lee. :) I love Daryl's new series- Fresh Faced Fridays and am so excited to be a part of it. One of my favorite makeup looks is the doe eyed classic of Old-Hollywood, and today I'm going to show you how to get that look- but for everyday wear!
First- (I always start my makeup routine as normal, since my daily routine is just a few steps down from this.) Start with a fresh and soft face- foundation etc. If your face takes powder well, you're going to want to use that. It really softens the look.
Second- Apply a light layer of nude shadow all over your lid- lash-line to brow-line. (Do NOT over do that part. It can get scary) Then in the crease apply a chocolate brown shadow and blend it with your finger- think Snow White.
Third- Apply a black liner into your lash-line and slightly above on the top lid only. I like to use the crayon type liners. Pencil isn't going to give you a perfect outcome and I can't work a liquid liner. haha!
Fourth- Apply a light layer of mascara and let it dry.
Ok - Now that you've got your basic look down we're going to get to the fun part!
First- Fill in those eyebrows. They were all about definition back then. So find a brow pencil (mine is NYC for $1. Yup) that matches your hair color and fill in your brows.
Second- Wing your liner. You already applied your liner so now just extend it out and up slightly. Just enough so that when you look straight on it appears as though your lashes are miles long.
Third- Apply a white liner to the bridge of your lower lid. This is going to give you that doe eyed look and really open up your eyes.
Fourth- Apply a second coat of mascara. Make sure you get all of your lashes.
Fifth- Blush. Smile so you can find the apples of your cheeks and apply a small amount of blush right there. Again, think Snow White.
Sixth- Lipstick. First prep your lips by wetting a wash cloth with warm water and gently exfoliate your lips. This will take off any dead skin that would make your lipstick clump. Next apply some moisturizer and let it soak in for a few minutes. Then apply a nice red lip.
Seventh- Apply a hilighter to the tops of your cheek bones extending to your temples.
Then you're done! So by adding a few simple steps to your everyday routine (or my everyday routine) you go from casual to 40's Glam!
Thank you so much to Daryl for letting me guest post! I love playing around with my makeup so I had a really fun time! And thank you to all who read this. I'd love for you to stop by my blog anytime!
